Build on acting skills with a more advanced study of improvisation and monologues. Students will work on and develop movement, voice, blocking, script work and other stage business, some may want to design their own costumes, set and props, and program cover. Develop character and integrate into an always moving story. No experience necessary, just an active imagination and a sense of adventure. On-Camera – Episodic Web Series

SAC - OYP - On Camera Beginners

Acting for the camera, students will learn and practice the basics of filmmaking and acting. This class provides students with an opportunity for artistic expression as together, with their teacher, they create an episodic WEB SERIES to be aired every two weeks. Students may visit other OST classes to tape and create an OST commercial for social media and the OST website. The audience will enjoy their production in the Spring Student Showcase.

Be ready for your High School Shakespeare study! With an emphasis on play, physicality, character and emotion, be prepared to shake up your Shakespeare! Shakespeare makes for exciting and dynamic theatre. GHOSTS! In the first term, meet Shakepeare’s ghosts and magical characters! Find costumes and present them at end of term. Funny! Shakespeare has many COMEDIC scenes of mistaken identity and hilarious adventures! Dress it up and present at term end. Battles and Death scenes are an actor’s dream! The third term will incorporate the first two terms as students learn how to fight and die on stage! The audience will enjoy their stage production in the Spring Student Showcase.

Tour to Young Audiences

*This class is three terms. (September-June)* What is acting all about? Sharing! This class builds a show then shares it with audiences of all ages. Learn about the aspects of touring: putting up/striking sets, caring for props and costumes, dealing with challenges of varying performance spaces. The class will tour up to five venues and may require students to miss 2-3 days of school. This exploration of theatre and acting will lead to from one to four performances at Ottawa primary schools, The Ottawa Children’s Festival as well as a performance in the OST Spring Student Showcase.

This course will focus on developing students’ observational skills while focusing on tone, form, proportion, likeness, depth, composition, and texture. Special attention will be given to portraiture, life drawing, and still life. Students will work from a model in preparation for the Canterbury visual arts interview. Through a variety of painting, drawing, mixed media, and sculpture projects, students will refine their skills and develop a substantial body of work. This course will cover all of the requirements for the Canterbury visual arts portfolio. Also available to teens wanting to attend De la Salle or pursuing their own interest in art. This course is open to new and returning students. Students are asked to bring their own sketchbooks each class. (Tuition includes one draped model.)

Wheel Level 1

GPS - WHEELNIGHT.201-3-5

This course is an in-depth introductory wheel course. Class duration 2.5 hours for 7 consecutive weeks. The student will cover the basic techniques for the beginner. You will first learn the art of centering the clay which will allow you make different pot shapes. Trimming a foot onto a pot and surface decoration is covered. Upwards of 6-8 pieces can be made during the course. Recylced clay included. No prerequisite is required. Please bring an apron or an old towel to protect your clothes.

Have you wanted to try making pottery on the wheel? Here is your opportunity to enjoy one evening discovering the art of throwing clay. A Thunder of Dragons Workshop (bilingual)

Come and create your very own hand built pottery dragon! Each participant will design 1 dragon using clay. During this 1.5 hour workshop participants will learn the pinch pot and coil methods of handbuilding. The participant will complete their dragon by embellishing it with textures. Our technicians will take care of firing your dragon in our kilns. The dragons will be ready 2 weeks after the workshop for you to pick up.
